2026 AGM
This year the ABOA AGM is scheduled to be held on Tuesday October 20th. As in previous years, it is our hope to partner with the Safety Codes Council, and host this meeting prior to the start of the Safety Codes Council Summit Conference. Further information on the time and specific location will come.
EDUCATION BURSARY
As part of the AGM meeting, a couple things will take place. The first item will be Educational Bursary Award recipient winners. As with last years process, the three bursary winners will be drawn at random during the Annual General meeting.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: application submission deadline is SEPTEMBER 30, 2026
ELECTIONS
This year we have three executive board roles coming up for nomination. I would like to urge anyone interested in getting involved to step forward. We would love to hear from you and are in need of good people to keep us going.
Roles for consideration
First Vice President
- Roles and responsibilities are assisting the President, sitting on boards as needed as the ABOA representative
Membership Director
- Roles and responsibilities include accepting and processing membership applications, maintaining membership records, awarding training certificates following webinars.
Secretary
- Roles and responsibilities include setting meeting agendas and taking minutes. Custodian of all documentation.
CHAT VOLUNTEER
Additionally, ABOA is working on implementing a "chat" through the ABOA website. This chat would enable all SCO's to bring forward questions or discussion topics to all the membership, and get feedback. As part of this chat, we are looking for a volunteer to monitor the chat and discussions to ensure feedback is being provided. If anyone is interested in joining ABOA in this capacity, please reach out.
ACCESS TO CSA STANDARDS
As a member of ACBOA, ABOA has been offered an opportunity of accessing the CSA standards at a reduced rate based on the number of user subscriptions. The offer includes PDF access to all CSA standards referenced withing the National Building Code. A discussion on the value of ABOA membership having access to these standards, and the costs associated will be brought forward to the membership during the AGM meeting.
