Linnie is currently employed by the Government of Alberta as the Barrier Free Administrator in the Community and Technical Services Branch of Municipal Affairs. She is the administrative liaison between the Accessibility Sub-Council of the Safety Codes Council and Municipal Affairs. Some of her responsibilities includes the processing of applications for barrier-free relaxation and the update and rewrite of the Accessibility Design Guide used in Alberta. She worked with the Disability Advisory and Engagement Branch and for the Secretariat for the Premier’s Council on the Status of Persons with Disabilities as the Accessibility Advisor. Nationally, she serves on various technical committees for Accessibility Standards Canada. Internationally, she represents Alberta as a member of the World Disability Union (she’s presented at the UN twice on behalf of the WDU on the importance of accessibility too). She was invited to Sharjah, UAE to conduct an accessibility audit of the city. She has also served for many years, in various positions on the Board of her housing co-op, as well as, the Board for (SAIL) Supports for Independent Living Inc. at her Co-op. Her education includes a Masters in Environmental Design and 2 Bachelors - Community Rehabilitation and Sociology with a Minor in Communication Studies. She loves to travel. Her loves are her two fur babies – Hunter and Jaxx! Accessibility is the great equalizer!
